The Drashti Power Consultants is a Partnership Firm of Mr. K K Bhatia and Mr. P R Mehta, who have worked for more than 35 years in different areas in Power sector in different capacities and as Chief Engineers.
Mr. KK Bhatia
Mr. KK Bhatia graduated in Electrical Engineering from LD College of Engineering; Gujarat University; Ahmedabad in 1970 and since then worked in erstwhile Gujarat State Electricity Board in Transmission Dept. in various Capacities including as Chief Engineer (Transmission) till he retired in Feb'06.
He carries with him a rich experience of all aspects of Power Transmission & Operations, through his 36 years of association with M/s GEB/GETCO (Erstwhile
Gujarat Electricity Board) and contributed to E.H.V. Sub-stations maintenance and Line maintenance of major 220 KV System. Monitoring of various activities for maintenance of Sub-stations & Lines of entire GEB up to 400 KV, steering ongoing reform activities, managing State Load Dispatch Centre etc.
During his tenure he worked for Preparation, getting approval for the various financing institutions i.e. PFC / REC / ADB for the various transmission projects, Procurement of the Transmission network equipments, including the preparation of the schedule of supply, Preparation, getting approval for the various financing institutions i.e. PFC / REC / ADB for the various transmission projects, Managing situation and restoration activities during CYCLONE/ EARTHQUAKES etc.
He also held the position of Chairman - Grid Code Review Committee for Gujarat.He was member of the CBIP Sub-group formed for the "Preparation of the Test Manuals for the Power Transformers" and "Erection Maintenance and Commissioning of Power Transformers including the Condition Monitoring"
After superannuation in Feb'2006, he Worked as advisor to Gujarat Ambuja Cements for about 5 years. He also worked as a Utility Consultant and advising ABB in Asset Management Services and Consulting Services for various Industries and Utilities for about 5 years.
Mr. PR Mehta
Mr. PR Mehta is graduate in Electrical Engineering from LD
College of Engineering, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in 1969 and since then worked in erstwhile Gujarat Electricity Board
in different disciplines as under:
In Planning & Project Dept. for Coal/Oil/Gas/lignite based power plants/projects in Gujarat
in Operation & Maintenance, Planning & Project, Development of new thermal projects getting all
statutory clearances, Engineering, Procurement, Execution,
handling Global EPC
Tenders/Contracts, Inspection, Renovation & Modernizations of Old Plants and in different
capacities up to Chief Engineer( Planning & Projects)
In Commerce Dept. as Commercial Officer, Addl. C.E. (Commerce) and as in-charge General Manager (Comm) for
development of IPPs (Independent Power Producers) /PPAs(Power Purchase Agreements) /GSAs(Gas Supply Agreements),
Processing billing of IPPs and Central Sector Power Stations, HT Consumers, Tariff & Regulatory matters with the
GERC/CERC, Non- conventional energy,Wind Farm, Solar Power, CPP, Wheeling of Power and Power Sale-Purchase etc.
After superannuation in Oct'04, reappointed in GSECL as Officer on Special Duty and worked
as Chief Gen. Manager (Gas Projects) for successful development of Gas
based projects viz. Dhuwaran 106 MW CCPP-I, 112 MW CCPP-II and Utran 375 MW CCPP-II projects.
On deputation to GMDC as Advisor(Power) for development of 2X125 MW Akrimota Lignite based Power Project during 1996 to 1999.
In Distribution for about 2 and 1/2 years during 1969 to 1971.
